Galena is a one of three Motley females that we picked up in 2006 that are possibly carrying the Dilute gene. Later in 2006 we picked up Slate, an Anery Motley male, who was distantly related to the three girls and also a good candidate for carrying the Dilute gene. We are hoping that this pairing will prove both animals out, but realize that it might take a couple more years before we are absolutely certain.
This pairing has been confirmed for the 2008 breeding season, hook-up occured on 03-16-08. We had originally hoped to pair them up at least once more to increase the likelihood of a fertile clutch, but changed our minds at the last minute.
Galena successfully dropped 14 eggs on 05-17-08, 13 of which appear to be fertile leaving only one slug. She is doing well after laying her first clutch in the early morning hours. The eggs were expected to hatch sometime around 07-21-08. First pip actually occured on 08-10-08, day 84 of incubation.
Thank you,
