It took us quite some time to find a male that would cooperate when it came to this pairing. Close to twso months of frustration really, when each male we picked out for Celestine was either in shed or completely uninterested. The few times we managed to find a male that was interested, she turned difficult and moody. So it was a bit of a surprise when we tossed Travertine in with her and found that he had hooked up with her on 04-01-08 successfully where older, more experianced males had failed. I guess you just never know sometimes. We had hoped to pair them up a second time, so that we could take pictures of them to have on file, but unfortunately Travertine went into the blue and showed no further interest in mating a second time.
As of 06-30-08, it would appear that Celestine has reabsorbed any eggs she was carrying. She was due to lay during the previous week, has had two sheds since she was paired up with Travertine, and we can no longer feel any eggs inside of her. We will leave the laybox in her cage and monitor her just in case for the next couple of weeks yet in the event that we misjudged the situation.
Thank you,
