Beryl is one of our proven breeders, having given us a small clutch last year that turned out some beautiful and fiesty rootbeers. This year she will be paired with Shale, an Ultramel Anery that we had believed to be female until very recently when we discovered his true gender while trying to pair him with another male. We're hoping to confirm Beryl's het Amel and check to see if she is also het Anery with this pairing. It will also help us confirm whether Shale is an Ultra Anery or an Ultramel Anery.

This pairing has been confirmed for the 2008 breeding season, hook-up occured on 03-23-08. We had hoped to pair them up at least once more to increase the likelihood of a fertile clutch, unfortunately the male did not cooperate.

Beryl finally laid a total of 15 eggs on 06-08-08, all of which appear to be fertile. They were expected to hatch sometime around 08-12-08, but did not start pipping until 08-20-08 on day 73 of incubation with the last hatchling emerging on 08-22-08. The smallest hatchling, from the smallest egg, was found D.I.E two days after it had pipped.
