In 2006 we had an opportunity to breed our 2yr old Snow to our 3yr old Reverse Okeetee. This came as a bit of a surprise as we'd tried to mate the same two snakes two months earlier and struck out as neither of them had been interested at the time. Pearl, our Snow, then laid a small clutch late on 6/1/06 - 14 eggs total, with only 2 duds.

Around 65 days after being laid, our eggs began pipping and we were soon rewarded with the emergence of our first hatchling - which happened to be a snow. The remaining eggs pipped over a five day period and left the eggs within 24 hours of breaking through. Only 1 hatching was dead in the egg, while 11 managed to exit. Of those 11 hatchlings 2 were the surviving half of two sets of twins - discovered when we noticed still heavy eggs with incomplete hatchlings and embryo soup inside. (Yes, it was gross.) One twin did not thrive and was subsequently euthanized to end its suffering.

he ratio of hatchlings was apparently 7.4, with 4 snows and 7 amelanistic - proving that Sandstone is het anerythristic. Below you will find pictures of the parents, the eggs during incubation, the pipping stage, and a link that will take you to photos of the individual hatchlings, some of which are available for purchase.
